It's the little things in my days that I want to remember... like today when we rolled around in our jammies until Noon... just because. Or when she is so anxious and excited to help me pick up her room and sweep the wood floors. I love the giggles... oh so many giggles from this little girl of ours. My heart melts every time. I cherish how much she loves to wrestle and jump on our bed... because it was the same for us growing up. Mom and Dad's bed was always so big and soft... a real treat. When she is by herself she talks the most.. mostly gibberish but that's when it really comes out. She has quite the imagination for someone so small.. I can't wait to see what it develops into and play all her magical games. She has become quite determined as of late to figure out some of her more difficult block sets... this makes me happy because it means that she is learning patience and how to problem solve. I think she is going to be a very good big sister.. she is very aware of and gentle with those younger than herself. She loves to sing and dance... the instant head bob or clapping when she hears music is classic. She is becoming quite independent at times as she is learning to find her own voice among everyone else. She has recently discovered how fun it is to jump on the bed.. she holds the side of her crib and jumps like crazy with great delight. She is very adamant when she means "NO"... complete with the facial expression and a fervent head nod. Our little peach loves her daddy more than anyone.. it's the sweetest thing in the world to watch the two of them play and spend time together. She loves reading and going through big picture books.. whether it's pictures of family, friends or cartoon characters it doesn't matter... she absolutely loves it. I'm not sure I've every met or seen such a little girl with so many expressive faces... people comment on this more than anything.. it cracks me up. She is a good hugger and loves to give out kisses. I love how she will fold her arms and then choose who she wants to give the prayer... once it ends and we open our eyes there she is waiting for us with a big grin. There are times when she gets shy or quietly happy and she will tilt her head to one of her shoulders.. it's a bit flirty.. and the cutest thing I've ever seen. When I lay her down lately she comes and stands by the side of the crib and as I kneel to her level she grins from ear to ear.. running her little hands across my face and kissing my cheeks.. she will grab both of my ears and when I grab hers at the same time she gets the biggest kick out of it. This melts my heart every time.. I hope it never ends.

So many wonderful little things that make up our days and yet it's so easy to look past them as we rush around and do our best to accomplish this thing called life. I need to make a better effort to stop and recognize them. I need to write them down. I know there are so many that I have probably already forgotten.. things that I made "mental notes" of are now gone. How blessed we truly are... every single day. This is something that I need to remember and will strive to do for the rest of my life. I am grateful for the little bursts of sunshine that make up my days and the tender mercies from above.

Why is this such a hard thing for me to get done ontime? It's not like it's crazy time consuming or very difficult at all. At least not with all the fantastic sites that are so readily available and easy to use. Every year I have the best intentions to mail these out before Christmas. I just feel like it's so much more personal than seeing it on a blog or in an email... yes, it is more expensive and it does take time to hand write all the addresses and personal notes yourself. But that's what makes it special.. and personal. So here's hoping that this next holiday season I will be more on top of things and be able to actually put my ducks in a row and get this to you in the mail. Please forgive me this time.

Hello blogging world. My apologies for being MIA for the last 2 months. There's honestly no good reason other than I just plain didn't feel like blogging about anything. It wasn't because we didn't have exciting things going on or fun little trips taking place... I just plain haven't felt like it. So for that I'm sorry. But I'm back! I'll do my best to update you but don't expect much... ;)

We've had a busy and exciting couple of months here in the Evans home. We've spent lots of time back in Utah with the families since Taylor basically had from the week of Thanksgiving off to the New Year - it was lovely :)

Baja and Tyler had a layover in Denver yesterday so Peach and I were lucky enough that the roads cleared up and we took a drive to go say hi before they were off to the Utah cities. Once our hour was up and it was time to say goodbye it was too hard so we decided that they should "accidentally" miss their flight and come kick it with us for the night. It was SO great having them over. Peach not only loved having Baja around, but she came to love Tyler as well... :) So. cute. Our night was full of good eats, lots of laughing and great conversation... those are the best nights if you ask me :) So it was a quick trip but totally worth every minute of it. Love you guys!! Thanks again for letting us kidnap you ;)

We miss you, a lot. Our little peach fell in love with you while you were here and she continues to smile with great delight anytime she sees a picture of you. In fact, most times she smiles so big it becomes an entire body smile :) Thank you for loving her with all your heart. I can promise you that she loves you right back.

For these last couple of years, you have been following your dream and are finally playing the sport that you love so much in one of the most beautiful countries in all the world. I know how hard it's been to get there and I can't tell you how proud of you I am. Thank you for being such a great example of what it means to have a dream and set goals along the way only to work and accomplish them. You have always been so good at that and it's something that I have always admired about you.

This weekend you are home for a short time and I wish with all my heart that we could come see you. I know how hard this is not having us there.. believe me it's not any easier for us. Please know that we think about you often and love you more than you will ever know. Merit looks at pictures of you everyday and I know how much she loves you. I hope you enjoy your time home and soak it all in. We love you Kristin Lynn. Thank you for all that you do.

A couple of weeks back when the sun was still shining and before it started snowing we had a surprise visit from Baja that was more fun than we could have imagined. We mainly just hung around the house in our jammies and played, but one sunny afternoon we decided to hit up Denver Zoo. Not only did we get a beautiful day, but it was filled with laughter and giggles from a little peach who loves animals. She was in awe the entire time. I think her favorites were the monkies, penguins, seals and elephants.

The season premiere is Monday Sept. 19th and I can guarantee this will be the best show on television this fall. I want to be just like Betty. I absolutely love this girl and everything about her. I can't believe she's already a Senior in High School. We've been family now for 6 years and within that short time I have come to love and admire everything about her. She has made me want to be a better person all around and has opened my eyes to so many little things that I have grown to love. She is one of my best friends and I miss her dearly. A red dress. So simple yet stunning. Very **dramatic* and over the top. Absolutely DAZZLING. Classic. Beautiful & Bold. Very BOLD.

Here we are on a late Friday afternoon, Peach has just woken up from her nap and is surprised but quite happy to see her Aunti Baja. Not only has she come to play for the weekend - which is perfect - but she has brought a gift. A stunning red dress. So what do we do? Of course she puts it on - loves it - and we do what any normal family would do. We go for a leisurely walk around the neighborhood and smile as we catch the expressions of not only our neighbors but our little peach.

In her heart, every girl loves to get dressed up for a special occasion.. even if it means going for a walk to catch one last summer sunset. Which if you ask me is an absolutely perfect time to do it ;)

This is such a great reminder that everyday is a special day and a perfect time to celebrate anything and everything. We don't need 'special occasions' to make our days 'special'. We just need to open our eyes a little and realize just how good we really do have it and celebrate the little things.

So last week Merit and I got to go HOME to Utah and spend lots of really good time with the families. It was fabulous. Everyday was full of something new and exciting and it was SO good seeing and spending quality time with everyone. We miss you already and can't wait for our next visit... hopefully it will be sooner than later ;)

Our little peach has grown up so fast and she has so much personality. She cracks me up. Today she learned how to do somersaults and every time she does it she giggles which of course makes me giggle. My days are good. They are full of laughter and one curious little girl. Her favorite thing to do is play on our bed and jump/fall onto all the pillows. It's funny because I remember thinking that my parents bed was the best thing in the world when I was younger too. I love getting down to her level and seeing what her world is like. It's fascinating. She is interested in and gets the biggest kick out of the simplest little things - like a somersault. No wonder childhood is so great. Life is simple. Life is good.

Can you see how much she loves these little boys?! This was the best thing that happened to her all summer.. 3 weeks with these fun fellas. They laughed, read books, swam, played with toys, jumped on the tramp, took walks, swung, went to the zoo and ate all kinds of good eats together. It was perfect having them here. We miss them dearly and I know she does too because she giggles every time she sees a picture of them. It melts me over and over.

Merit loves animal books and when we took her to the zoo with the boys she was in absolute awe. It was so much fun to watch her see her little books come alive. Her favorite were the monkeys. She got an absolute kick out of them jumping all over their cages. She also loved the elephants, giraffes, and the birds. She was a little hesitant about the carousel until she saw that Truman was next to her and then she relaxed and gave him a big smile. Thanks Tru.

I love summer. I mean who doesn't? It's absolutely fabulous in every possible way. But my favorite part of it is all the time that we get to spend as a family and with our families. It's perfect. We are so blessed to come from good strong homes that were and still are full of love. It is my hope and goal to raise our children with the kind of love and support that both Taylor and I were able to grow up with. What a blessing. I know that not everyone finds themselves as fortunate to come from homes such as ours. I am grateful to each and every one of our family members for their love and examples. We are all so different and yet I feel like we all compliment each other so well. We each have different talents and ideas to share and I am grateful that we are each our own person. Each and everyone of them makes me want to be a better person and for that I thank them.

I had the chance to get together with one of my old friends and teammates and take their family pictures and it was SO fun. These kids are an absolute hoot. I can't remember the last time I laughed this hard during a shoot. Not only are they incredibly cute but they are FULL of personality... which isn't surprising knowing their mom ;)

crab apples anyone?

So we have these giant fruit trees out in our front yard and we wondered what kind of fruit it was and whether or not it was edible for quite some time. After talking to one of our neighbors about it she told us they were crab apples.. and yes they were edible. They are quite tart.. almost sour and mainly used for making pies and jams. So upon finding this out you'd better believe we started picking these little apples. Now I just need to decide whether to make a pie or some jam.. I'm leaning toward a pie. Anyone have a good recipe?

Anyways, I just love these pictures. I was making dinner one night and when I discovered they weren't in the house I went looking for them and found them having a little bit of daddy daughter time :)

P.S. I totally burned dinner because I was so excited about taking these pictures.

Noah James Evans

Yesterday Grant and Jackie welcomed Noah James into their family. Although we were unable to be there for this great event we felt his immense love. What a blessing. When I told Merit that she had a new cousin and showed her a picture of him she immediately took the phone from me and started squealing with excitement. She was all smiles from ear to ear for a good 5 minutes as she walked around looking at his picture. It was so sweet.

Child birth is the most amazing thing in all the world to me. It blows me away every time I think about it. It is an absolute miracle anytime a baby is born healthy. And Noah is exactly that... healthy. I am grateful to have him in our family and for the chance to get to know him. Throughout the day yesterday I couldn't help think about his older brother Jackson and the blessing he has been in our lives this past year. There is no doubt in my mind that he has been guiding Noah and his family through this process thus far and will continue to be with them each and every day. I am grateful for the Plan of Salvation and that families can be together forever. What a blessing the gift of life really is.

Hello to all yall out there who still frequent my blog. I'm sorry about the absence for the last couple of weeks. Life has been a bit crazy and we took a step back to the 90's where we didn't have internet.. and although it's nice to be 'connected' again I must say that I honestly didn't mind it all that much. It was a good break and I found myself to be quite productive.

So here's a quick recap of what our life has been like since the last time I posted. We took our club team to Atlanta for the Jr. Olympics where they had a great tournament. I absolutely love those kids more than they will probably ever know. I'm grateful that Taylor and I have been able to be a small part of their lives for the last 2 years.

Then two days after getting home, we went through our storage unit and after tossing a bunch of stuff we packed everything up and moved to Denver, CO. This is where I need to thank Debbie and Rob Langley from our ward for helping us move. They had a farm in Denver that they sold and needed to take an empty horse trailer out to pick up all the equipment to bring back to UT. Well, upon talking to Debbie about our move and how excited we were she offered to drive our stuff out if we could get it loaded by the time they left - which was 2 days after getting home from Atlanta. And you'd better believe we did it. With the help of Taylor's family we were able to get everything loaded in between breakfast and lunch. What a blessing. I am grateful for tender mercies such as those that continue to fill my days.

While here in June, Taylor found us a great little house that is literally not even 2 minutes away from the DU campus. It's awesome. I'll post pictures one of these days. But other than that, that's pretty much it. We have a great ward.. a small ward but a great one at that. We have a wonderful neighbor who is so sweet and we have enjoyed lots of refreshing thunder and lightning storms the last week. So all in all things have been good. Merit is adjusting to our new little life and home quite well. She continues to amaze me each day. I can't believe how fast she's growing up.... it'a crazy. She is bursting from the ears with personality.

Merit has absolutely fallen in love with her cousin Truman. She hasn't had very many chances to play with kids and having the cousins here for the last 3 weeks has been awesome. A dream come true. In fact, this morning we got to see her for the first time in 5 days (she stayed with my family while we were in Atlanta coaching our club team at JOs) and she was more excited to see Truman than she was Taylor or I. Their little friendship is so sweet. I absolutely love it.

I could go on and on about him but I'm going to be nice on my 'hate' post and hold my tongue. Lets just say that because of him and the things that he said ABC almost canceled the show...

Tonight's theme couldn't be better as I just happened to spend the evening with some of my closest friends from High School at our 10 year reunion. I can't tell you how much fun we had as we laughed and giggled our way through the night together.

I think these reunions are pretty much meant to be awkward as you go and attempt to do a bunch of small talk with people you haven't kept up with for the last 10 years. Awesome right? I don't even want to mention how grateful I am for the name tags we had to wear ;) Well I am happy to report that because we had each other I don't think there was a single awkward moment... OK maybe one now that I think about it :)

I absolutely LOVE these girls! They are incredible women with great stories and I can only hope to be like them someday. Thank you for always being such great friends!

PS - I'll post more pictures when I get a chance to go through some old pictures of our glory days next week :)

We pretty much grew up on this stuff and I'm happy to say that Merit loves it too :)

Day 23/30 ~ OLD

These are my grandparents back when they were young and still in love. I never saw them together like this. It makes me happy to know that at one point they were good friends and loved each other. They look so happy. They loved their kids and us grand kids but for whatever reason (and I think there were many) they eventually started living different lives. My grandpa passed away when we were Seniors and grandma followed 5-6 years later. The joke was now that grandma was going to be in heaven grandpa was leaving ASAP. We laughed pretty hard about how true it could be, but I like to think that they have since re-established their friendship and the love that they once had for one another. Perhaps they have forgiven each other for what happened back here on earth and have once again fallen back in love.

An old love story continued in heaven... ?!

Day 22/30 ~ HAPPY

I wish I could tell you how happy I was to capture this moment! The other day we were in somewhat of a hurried frenzie to leave for Tru's baptism and I walked into our room to find her happy as can be and totally oblivious to everything going on around her. This kid cracks me up!

Last Saturday we had the opportunity to be part of Truman's baptism and it was fabulous. I am grateful that as the oldest cousin he chose to get baptized and set a good example for his brothers, Luke and Merit. After talking about what it meant to get baptized with his parents this is what Truman said to his mom when he figured he understood it.

He said, “It’s like we’re like a car, and when we’re born we have a full tank of gas. The gas tank lasts for eight years. When you’re eight years old and you’re baptized your tank gets filled up with gas again. Then we make mistakes, but it’s okay, because each Sunday when we go to church and take the Sacrament our tank gets topped off. So we can always have a full tank of gas.”

I am grateful for Spencer and Melanie and their understanding of how important it is to teach their kids the gospel principles. It's amazing to me what little children come up with on their own and how much we can learn from them. It's no wonder that we are counseled to become as a little child.

Day 21/30 ~ TIME

June 21st. The first day of summer and the longest day of the year. I took this picture with my mom's phone at 8:30PM tonight and you can see that the sun still hadn't set. I just peaked out the window over towards the horizon and at 10:03PM it still wasn't completely dark.

This has always been my favorite thing about summer - the long beautiful days. It's almost like the sun knows how much I'm enjoying each day he doesn't want to leave just yet and hangs on for a little bit longer each day. For that I am grateful.

Family Orchard Pictures

So there's an apple orchard in our neighborhood and I thought it would be fun (but mostly pretty) to give it a shot and mix it up a bit for our family pictures this year. Last year we were staring into the sun a midst hay bails and the year before that we found ourselves at an old antique farm. Of course we had a very limited amount of time that we were all going to be together and this Spring - if you can call it that - it just wouldn't stop raining. We planned on a day - our last possible day - and of course it was raining. Debating on whether or not we were going to be able to get the pictures taken and looking for a good last minute indoor place, we were lucky enough and caught a pocket of sunshine. We dashed over to the orchard and snapped away. In the mud and all :)

Today our little peach is one. She has magically changed from a sweet little baby to a beautiful toddler with an incredible amount of personality over night. It's crazy. I honestly can't believe how fast time has flown by - and yea I know that everyone says that. But man. She has taught us more in the last year than I could have ever imagined and I can't wait for all the time that we get to spend together. Peach I love you! Happy Birthday pretty girl!

This isn't exactly a 'zoom in' shot, nor did I even take it. I'm totally breaking the rules with this one because today is our anniversary! Crazy. It has been an absolutely fabulous and delightful little journey that we started together 6 years ago. I look back on all that we've done together and the places we've traveled to and I count my blessings everyday. It has been hard. But it has been great. I continue to fall more and more in love each day and I am more in love today than I ever thought I could be and for that I am grateful. I love you Taylor Evans! Thank you for an incredible journey so far.. I can't wait to see what's in store for us and the rest of our lives together!

This is real life at Yaya and Papa's house. Not too bad if you ask me. Anytime we go and pick her up she is exhausted from playing and laughing so hard. She is usually out cold within the first five minutes of our drive home :)

I love how much our little peach loves her grandparents. They truly are magnificent people and she's lucky to have them as such a regular part of her little life. Anytime she sees Mimi or Yaya she giggles with excitement and it melts my heart.

My books. Regardless of where we go I have to have my books. When we moved to Austria 2 years ago Taylor and I brought all the books we wanted to read for the next 9 months - which was a lot. Especially hauling them in our giant bags. Our American teammates all thought we were crazy for hauling so many books over seas. Little did we know that we would end up not only reading them ourselves, but we were the 'American Library' if you will. At the end of the season everyone was so happy that we had brought them.

There are so many books that I want to read. I wish I had more time to read every day but will take the little time that I have because it's precious and I fully enjoy it.

What are your favorite books? I'm always looking for a new good read. I just finished Water for Elephants and loved it. I would highly recommend it. My all time favorite book is Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. It's phenomenal. You should read it.

These fine people you see here are my cousins. My favorite cousins at that. Yes, I just said that ;) We grew up together and have been great friends through thick and thin. I love everything about this family. This was a photo shoot that we did last fall before Greg {on the far left} left to serve his mission in Guatemala.

We were at an antique farm in American Fork and you wouldn't believe some of the things they've got there. Let's just say that as a photographer it's like being a little kid in a candy store. There's so much that you can do with so many different random things. Once the creativity starts flowing it's hard to stop. There were a lot of pictures that I absolutely loved, but with today's theme being CREATIVE I chose this one. I love it because it shows each of their personalities to a T :)

So Peach and I went grocery shopping today around 12 and of course whenever I want to take a picture and capture a memory, I usually don't have my camera with me. {No I don't have a camera phone - hopefully one of these days that will change.} Merit was being so funny in the cart as she was giggling whenever I pushed the cart forward and then pulled it back toward me. She got an absolute kick out of it. :)

Anyway, since I couldn't take a picture of her in the grocery cart I figured I'd take a picture of our fresh fruits and vegetables that were at one point in the cart ;)

One of Merits favorite things to do is go through the DVDs on our shelf and pull them out. She gets an absolutely kick out of it. She seems to do it until she finds 'Mermaid' then she screams in delight and turns to find whomever is in the room and give them the biggest smile. I love it. This is my favorite Disney and I can't wait to watch it with her. So there you have my RED.. Ariel's hair is gorgeous and when I was younger I wished mine was that color.

In the blurry background you'll see a couple of my bottles... the more that I think about it I should have posted this for my guilty pleasure. I have this funky compulsion to collect cool bottles and jars.. not sure what it is but I love it. I mean how many bottles and jars does a girl really need?! haha it's awesome and I have a good husband who helps me do this in moderation ;)

30 Day Photo Challenge!!

How many of you every find yourself looking for a fun creative challenge? You know to mix things up a bit.. Well I know I am always looking for something like that and as I was browsing my friends blog Beyond Bliss Photography I discovered Amber Fischer and found THIS! I am SO excited about it I can't even stand it.

It's a 30 day photo challenge for the month of June. Each day there is a theme for you to get creative with and shoot. Here's the best part about it.. you don't have to be a professional photographer to do it. You don't have to own any fancy photo equipment (in fact, if you have an iphone or anything like that then you've always got your camera with you for when that great idea pops in to your head ;) and the only rule is that YOU have to take the picture for the given theme that day. Simple right? :) I can't wait!! It's a perfect excuse to get your creative juices flowing if they're not already ;)

I am currently 5 days behind, so I'm going to post each of those pictures here and will start on day 6 tomorrow. I hope you join us!

Day 1/30 ~ ME

I'm a cowgirl at heart through and through. If there were ever one thing I wish that I was doing virtually all the time, it's riding horses. I dream about living on a ranch and having horses of our own someday. Perhaps I'm drawn so much to this lifestyle because it's part of my roots and where I come from. My parents both grew up in California but my mom came from a family of cowboys in Lovell Wyoming. I would love for nothing more than to move out to that small town and work on my great aunts ranch every summer. And just in case you're wondering.. yes of course I'd bring our little family along for the ride. I'm sure they'd absolutely love it!

Day 2/30 ~ YELLOW

I love the color yellow. It's such a happy color. These are Merit's little yellow shorts and they're my favorite. I wish I had a pair. But, the thing that I love about this picture is that she just happened to be wearing them as she was taking her first steps!! Now the fun really begins :)

Day 3/30 ~ SWEET

There are so many things that I love about this sweet picture. It's my best friend on her wedding day giving Aiden - my other best friend's son - a kiss on the lips. This was an amazing weekend as we all gathered from different states to celebrate Erica and John. I wish so badly that we all lived closer so that we could spend some real time together, but more importantly so that our kids could all grow up together. These are some of the most important and incredible women in my life and I want for my kids to know and love them the way that I do.

Day 4/30 ~ LOW ANGLE

You have no idea how long I've been waiting for a sunny day to go outside and take some pictures of Merit and her bubbles!! Here we find ourselves in June and we finally have some sunshine! I love shooting low angles to get a better view of what she's seeing and what her little world is like.

Day 5/30 ~ GUILTY PLEASURE

It all started the summer of 2009. We were doing a summer camp at Sunny Slope High School in Phoenix Arizona and the girls we were staying with had a huge Bachelorette Party for the finale. Jillian was about to choose the man of her dreams... Ed proposed!! I think it's safe to say that our Monday nights have never been the same. Perhaps my favorite thing about this is how much Rex enjoys it.. you wouldn't believe how much he loves it! Almost as much as me ;)

She started walking out of nowhere all of a sudden this afternoon! She's taken a few steps here and there the last couple of days, but nothing like this. Afterwards when we went inside all she would do was crawl, then when we went outside on the grass again she walked... I take it she doesn't like crawling on the grass. Guess who's going to be spending a lot of time on the grass from now on! :) I can't believe our baby girl is walking!!!

One of my favorite things to do is hang out with my family. Whether it's on holidays with lots of good food and activities or we're just hanging around the house on days like this being thoroughly entertained by one sweet peach it's all great. Time spent with family is huge and SO important in my book. I love it and find myself so grateful for the relationships that we share, the memories that we have and the life that we have ahead of us. Rex and I took a day trip to Denver (more on that later) and while we were gone Peach got to spend the day with Grandma and Aunti Baja. From the looks of it she had an absolute blast. She experienced her first shopping spree with Baja, had some treats, ran around the mall and got a brand new pair of cute summer shoes. I love love love that she got to spend the day with them. It amazes me how much she loves them and I couldn't be happier about it.

So I feel like it's been a month since the last time I posted. Little did I know it's just been a week {big sigh of relief}. It has been a busy last couple of weeks - or should I say week. I have lots of pictures to post but for some reason just can't seem to muster up the energy to do it. Mostly it's because I find myself totally engrossed in my new book Water for Elephants. Any free time that I have all I want to do is sit and read. I love good books. I really really love good books and I've finally made some time to sit and read one. I would highly recommend it if you find yourself looking for a good read. I know the movie just came out and I can't wait to see it!

So there's my confession. I've been wanting to take some time to read a good novel and I am finally doing it :) One of these days I'll get back to posting pictures of our peach because I love that too.. but in the mean time I'm going to finish my book.

There are so many good books out there and I wish there was enough time in the day that I could sit and read all the books on my list. I would love to hear about your summer reading list, or your favorite book(s).

So I really wanted to dig up some of my own High School Jr. Prom pictures and give yall a good laugh, but alas they are all packed up nicely with my scrap books in our storage unit.. sorry. One of these days when it's nice and we actually do have the time we're going to have to go through our lovely storage unit and get rid of a bunch of things that we have seemed to live without for the last 3 years... funny how that works. Anytime we go out and grab something I'm reminded of how much I really love some of the things that we have out there and then I'm quickly reminded once again by my loving husband how I have somehow made it perfectly fine for the last 2-3 years with out it.. and that we'll soon be getting rid of a lot of it.. not all of it.. but a lot of it {big sigh}. And yes, we really do need to get rid of a lot of it.

Anyways that's not what I wanted to post about - at least for now it's not. My baby brother {he's 18.. but my baby brother nonetheless} had his Prom a little while back and I've been too busy/tired these last couple of weeks to remember anything really, so that's why I'm just now getting around to posting these. Perhaps one of these days I'll get his Surprise 18th birthday party pictures from Feb 4 posted ;) sorry Taylorman. I still love ya. As you're about to see his date is an absolute doll. I think he's had a little crush on her for a couple of years now and I was ecstatic when I found out he had asked her. Here's to being young again and absolutely loving high school.

Speaking of high school - my 10 yr reunion is this summer - !!!!!??!?! - crazy how time flies.

Do you remember our club team from last year? Here's another post that I love. In fact it's the same trip exactly one year ago.. crazy. Well I'm happy to say that we're still coaching the same Zephyr girls and loving every minute of it.. for the most part ;) This tournament - 2 weeks ago - they did a phenomenal job and just missed getting into the finals of our division and capturing our team goal of qualifying for JO's at a Qualifier. This weekend in Reno is our last chance and our chances are good so keep your fingers crossed for us.

On another exciting note, Merit got to spend her first day at the beach. I think she enjoyed it. She was loving the sand and was mezmorized by the ocean. I think my favorite part was how she smelled like sunshine and salt water once we left :) It was a great afternoon. I only wish we could have stayed a bit longer to soak in some more sea breeze before heading off to the gym.

Out in the sunshine and in the pool with friends.. does it get much better? I submit that it can not!

I've decided that we all need to move to Arizona - at least during the winter, because I'm a woos and can't handle the 110+ degree summers.

Anyways.

Pre-wedding activities included lunch and a girls afternoon out of manis & pedis. After which we promptly met up with all things dads

and kids and headed to the pool. It was fabulous. Just not long enough. As usual.

This was the first time that I wasn't the only one taking pictures..

Lexi and Kimmy both had their SLRs and I must say that it's kind of nice being in a couple of pictures.

I don't know.. proof that I'm there every once in a while ;)

Baku, spring & fuzzy blossoms

As I sit here and try to think about what to write nothing really comes to mind other than the fact that I really wish we could hop on the plane with my mom next week and fly to Baku. I'm very jealous. I miss traveling. I miss my sister and would love to see her new city. I would love to see that part of the world. I want to try new food and listen to a new language. I need some sunshine and a week with my mom and sister would be perfect. Minus the 11 hour difference and the flights from Vegas to LA to London and on to Baku, this little girl of mine needs to see her aunti Baja. She's growing up way to fast and it makes me sad that it's still going to be almost 3 months until she will get to giggle, laugh and play with her.

This morning the sun was shining for a bit so Merit and I went and spent a little time out in the backyard and as Merit was playing with the grass I looked up at some of the trees and I saw little willow blossoms! I couldn't help but smile and enjoy the brief amount of sunshine warm my back. I know that Spring is on it's way and with that it brings new blossoms, greener grass and sunshine but most importantly it means that Baja will be coming home before she is off again for the summer. I just wish that it would come sooner than later and stay a little longer.

As for here and now we'll continue to be patient and we'll love and cherish our almost weekly skype dates as they'll have to tide us over...

So it turns out that we have quite the little traveler on our hands - which is a good thing because she's going to be doing a lot of it :) We took our club team down to Las Vegas for a tournament and Peach got to spend lots of extra time with Grandma - which is always super fun. She spent a decent amount of time at the gym and seemed to love every minute of it. The best part about these big club tournaments is that we get to see all of our good friends that are coaching club and college. It's crazy to think that at this time last year she was in my tummy and now here we are back in the gym with all the same people that we love and we have a little girl smiling and cracking everyone up. It was super cute to watch her interact with so many different people. After this weekend I would say that she is becoming quite the little social butterfly.

More often than not I find that my cheeks are aching from smiling and laughing so hard when I watch her. I love it. She has the funniest little personality it just cracks me up. She sings and babbles more and more everyday. Her facial expressions are priceless. It frustrates me that I don't always have my camera to capture her in her element. She laughs more and more every day and I can't help but laugh along with her. Our days are simple and slow, but I wouldn't change them for anything in the world. Here's to life and its simple pleasures like smiling so much your cheeks hurt.

So we've been busy for the last little while. Our little peach is almost 8 months! She is discovering her personality and giggling at just about everything these days. Her first two teeth have popped through on her bottom gums which makes for more drool, funny faces and new noises as she tries to figure out this new addition to her mouth. She is figuring out how to eat Cheerios by herself and absolutely loves her some fruit! She still hasn't shown any interest in crawling - other than turning in circles when she's on her tummy - but she has figured out how to pull herself up from sitting to standing if there's something to hold on to. She also is moving around a lot while she sleeps - it's actually really funny to go in and see what new position she has found herself in. Especially because she is always seems to find her way to the corner and get stuck.

We have begun teaching her sign language and it's crazy how much she understands already. I can't wait for her to be able to start expressing herself and communicating better with us. I think she's going to be a little talker because she's pretty much nonstop little babbling now ;) One of my favorite things is how excited she gets when she sees Taylor or myself.. her entire body wiggles with excitement and she quickly turns away to hug whomever shes with and then turns back towards the other gives them a huge smile and is ready to play. It's awesome. :)

Everyday gets better and better. She is such a doll and I can't even begin to express the love that I have for her. It's absolutely amazing!!! She is the most fascinating little thing in the world. It's crazy to watch her learn and grow so much each day. She's like a little sponge soaking as much as she can up every day. I love it!!! Anyway.. here are some pictures from the last 2 weeks.

Forgive me as a I do a bit of catching up... I'm only like 2 weeks behind.

Paps got his mission call!! He will be serving in the Washington,Kennewick Mission, speaking Spanish. This is kind of a cool thing. Brian, Spencer, Taylor and Grant all served in South America while Keith served in Seattle Washington. What are the chances that Ethan would serve in Washington and speak Spanish? Pretty cool if you ask me and I don't remember the last time I saw someone this excited about something. I mean, I guess I'd be pretty excited too if I was about to find out where I was going to be spending the next 2 years of my life ;) Congrats paps!

Everyday is a new adventure with this little one. She's becoming very active and more and more playful each day. I can't believe it's already been 7 months since she joined our family. The holidays have been fabulous. Mostly because of all the time that we have had to spend with our family and friends. I could go on about a lot of different things, but I really just wanted to touch on 2 exciting things that happened over the past week.

#1 Merit and Sienna finally met! Erica and Kimmy were in town so of course we got together for breakfast at Maglebys and had a blast catching up. It was cute watching these two try and figure each other out. I'm sure that Sienna has had a plethora of social interactions - especially with kids - compared to Merit. She doesn't exactly get out much which is totally my fault. We need to find some play groups or something so she can start making some friends.. but speaking of making friends I can tell this is just the beginning of a fabulous friendship and I couldn't be happier about it! :)

#2 and possibly the most exciting thing that happened this Holiday Season... Merit went from really disliking her uncle Taylorman...

...to finally giving him a chance and figuring out that he's not all that bad. Merry Christmas Taylor!!

This was Christmas morning after screaming while in his arms Christmas Eve and every other time he held her for the past 3-4 months.
Don't ever let anyone tell you there's no such thing as a Christmas miracle.

All we needed was a little Christmas magic ;)

6 months!

Our peach is 6 months old and happier than could be. I can't believe how fast the time has flown by and I don't even want to think about how much faster it's going to go. I wish that we could just stop time for a little while and really take in every moment we get spend with her. It's amazing to me how much she learns every day. I've never met a more curious little person.. she's inquiring about everything and everyone around her. I love it. But my new favorite thing is when she wraps her arms around my neck and tucks her little head down and squeezes with all her might. I can already tell she's going to be a good huger.

This morning we woke up about 18 inches of fresh powder and you can imagine my excitement. I couldn't wait to go and play in it. In fact I got so excited about it I didn't even realize how many layers I had put on Merit. Rex made the comment to my mom that I was bundling her up like the little boy from A Christmas Story... :) then of course he attempted to put her arms down and expected them to pop right back up... which they didn't ;) but it was pretty funny watching him with her.

I love this season and I love today. I'm grateful for the beautiful place that we live and the fact that we are surrounded by our loved ones. What a blessing. I hope you are enjoying your holiday thus far. Merry Christmas in case I don't get another blog up ;)

lazy days & blurb

Things are finally winding down a bit from the past few weeks. We have been far too busy getting everything for club ordered and what not and I am thrilled to say that I finally finished making the family books.

For those of you who are wondering about what that means, each year I gather pictures from everyone in both mine and Taylors family and I make each family a year book. It takes a long time and is quite a bit of work - only because I always put them off and then frantically hurry to get them done so I can meet the shipping deadline. But I have been doing them since 2007 and they are a treasure. My mom and Brian have both mentioned a couple of different times that if the house were on fire they would get the family out and grab the books. If you have the time I would highly recommend you making some. If not for your family & inlaws, but for yourself and your kids. It doesn't have to be a yearbook either.. the next book that I want to do is a travel book and gather all the pictures from where we have been fortunate to visit. Check out blurb and you'll see just how easy it really is. Then you can finally get all of your pictures off of the hard drive and actually look at them. That is my only complaint with digital files and not camera film.. I always plan on making prints but never do.

I know that there are lots of different programs out there that allow you to make books like this, but from my experience blurb is the best quality. You can make books up to 440 pages - if you are that ambitious - and they are quality bound. They look like the nice coffee table books you would find in Borders or any other bookstore. Not to mention you can make a variety of different sizes. I love them... and not to mention the best part... they are totally affordable.

So many of you know that Baja is currently playing in Baku, Azerbaijan. And many more of you are asking where exactly it is and even more importantly how you say it. :). Here's how dictionary.com broke down the pronunciation {ah-zer-bahy-jahn} I hope that helps. Now where is it? Here's a map.

As you can see it's very far away. She seems to pick all the hot spots to go and play: Russia, Siberia, etc. Jk Baja you've been living in places that most of us have only dreamed about going... maybe. Anyways, long story short, we set up a skype date so that she and Merit could see each other. It was priceless. Especially because Peach never gets to look at screens and yesterday morning she stared at one for 30 straight minutes. There's always an exception right ;) I figured this was a pretty good one.

My favorite part was when she finally realized who she was looking at on the screen and she busted out the biggest grin and immediately started reaching for the screen with both hands. It was absolutely priceless. I'm so grateful for modern technology and the fact that our little peach could see her aunti Baja who is on the other side of the world. - for free. It's amazing to me what people keep coming up with. I can't even begin to think about what's around the corner. Kristin made the comment that she just wanted to reach through the screen and grab her... as much as that kind of freaks me out a little I'm sure it's not as impossible as it may sound. Well... I don't know.
